Frequently Asked Questions

Why do you only sell loose leaf tea?

We get it. Loose leaf can be seen as more difficult than tea bags or coffee. But we believe it’s way easier than you think.

We also believe it’s the best way to enjoy the tea - it makes for a more intoxicating and aromatic experience - plus, it puts you in control, letting you add more or less tea depending on what floats your boat.

On top of all this; it avoids the unnecessary waste and all those microplastic nasties in tea bags.

Why should I drink Bone China?

Bone China wants to welcome a new generation of tea drinkers. The type of person who's not into the stuffy stuff in nan's cupboard, or the woo-woo yogi teas spouting holistic gobbledygook.

Most tea brands offer hundreds of variants. It’s almost impossible to know where to start. We’ve curated a short list of intoxicating teas that’ll turn even the most unlikely of drinkers into tea junkies. Each one fits into your life seamlessly and fills a void or replaces something you have been trying to cut back on. There’s intentionality to our choices, that we think you’ll appreciate.

How many cups of tea do you get in a 100g bag?

We’d recommend that you use between 3-5grams of tea per cup. Which will give you between 30-40 cups of tea per 100g bag.

What’s the easiest way to make a cup of loose leaf tea?

We think it’s with one of our Bone China tea strainers. They fit into most mugs or cups. Simply add your tea, pour hot water over the top and leave to steep (read the brewing instructions for time and temperature). Once you’re finished, simply remove the strainer, dispose of the tea, either in the bin or the compost and enjoy an intoxicating brew.

But this isn’t the only way. There’s all kinds of strainers, pots and methods out there.

Where’s your tea from?

We work with small, specialist producers all around the world to source our teas and expert Tea Masters to craft our blends. Our black, green and cacao husk teas are single-origin and organic. Our blends are crafted in small batches using the highest quality ingredients we can get our metatarsals on.

I own a retail space, restaurant, hotel, coffee shop, art gallery, or brothel and I’d love to stock your tea.

That’s not a question. But don’t worry, we’re picking up what you’re putting down. Just drop us a note at wholesale@bonechinatea.com and we’ll be in touch ASAP to get you all the loose leaf tea your establishment needs.
